Sweet & Sour Shredded Organic Angus Beef
Shredded Organic Angus Beef is great to take for lunches to work or school. It is a great alternative to processed meat slices that are unhealthy for you.
1 Boneless organic Angus beef chuck roast (about 3 pounds)
1 C water
1/2 C cider vinegar
1/2 C ketchup
2 Tbsp Mustard
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 C brown sugar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 minced garlic clove
1/2 tsp pepper
Shredded Organic Angus Beef cooking directions: Place organic Angus beef in slow cooker. Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl and pour over meat. Cover; cook on low approx. 8 hours. (Times can vary greatly so for the first time cooking it in your slow cooker you will want to check it often.)
Once cooked pull beef about with forks and mix around in the remaining sauce. Serve in homemade buns.
Makes 10 to 12 servings.
Put all ingredients in a bowl and whisk together.
Then pour sauce mixture over roast in slow cooker. Then cover and turn on low setting. Every so often I stir it some and spoon more sauce over roast.
This picture was taken after about 6 hours in slow cooker. I could start to tear the roast apart some now. I leave it on low and keep coming back more often now and tearing it apart.
After 7 1/2 hours in my slow cooker on low setting this is the final result. It falls apart easily and tastes delicious! Now to make the homemade buns!
*Depending on how large you roast is you may want to double the sauce amount.
**Note slow cookers vary and you may not need as long of time but you want to cook it longer then you would if you would a roast as you want it to fall a part. Every time I cook my organic shredded beef I leave it on low for about 8 hours and it just falls a part. The kids enjoy it on a homemade bun for school lunches.
